I scribble in earth
With a trail of your strides
Non-conformist, yet benevolent
that in obeisance of “whatever ye do to the least of these ones”
Olodumare will lighten your paths
And bestow on generations beyond you
A deserved honour, extracted by your own blood and sweat
spent on the paths you lead,
for the others, without a thought.
Yours is a life of exemplariness,
A torch that goes ahead of a multitude
Irrespective of creed and tilt.
I have been but a student
at the doorpost of your tutelage
lapping on bits of how justice, mercy and scolds
all mix into one edifice.
Years had gone,
and yet, you are that golden egg
sequestered amongst others
and reflecting the brilliance of the rays of the Sun from above.
May Olodumare shine on our paths,
and may this day, each year, always speak to us
the words of courage, growth, love and justice.
Happy birthday brother!
I love you…
