I considered starting AXIOM, my own blog last week as there was so much anxiety in me to share #PAUSIBILTY: PRAYERS FOR THE THOMASES which was reworded to #PAUSIBILITY: SEE HOW LUTH IS LOOTING THE FUTURE OF THIS COUNTRY on www.omojuwa.com by the administrator(s) of the website at their own discretion.

Cambridge Advanced Learner’s Dictionary Third Edition describes axiom as a statement or principle which is generally accepted to be true, but need not be so. The example that was given in further explanation of that word is a perfect fit to what we are faced with at the moment: it is a widely held axiom that governments should not negotiate with terrorists.

These past few days have seen many Nigerians comment on the statements made by two prominent USA Senators (based on their personal assessment) concerning the situation of Nigeria. Both Senators had at some time in their political careers took a shot at becoming the President of the United States. They are also hi-tech diplomats that must have interacted with different world leaders at different fora. They must have known the corruption fecundity and diplomatic infertility of our leaders.

BI IYA NLA BA GBENI SAN’LE, KEKEKE A MA GORI ENI- A sage in a state of confusion gives leverage for foolish counsels to thrive. Whether we like it or not, that is the state we are in. The choice of our leadership has made us an object of ridicule world over, that Mr Mugabe could even use us as a bad example to whitewash his own image.

Anything McCain said is not the crux here as I am sure some of us have even said something worse about this government. My grouse is that McCain should have learnt more diplomacy from Senator Hilary Clinton who put it directly to this government.

I will urge us not to degenerate to the level of that SSA to the President on media that threw a stone of racism as alibi for this government’s insensitivity to the plight of its people. We must not diffuse the essence of our collective resolve by becoming xenophobic; being BLINDLY patriotic is not a good one but being LOYALLY patriotic is the best. Whatever anyone may have said came as a result of the maladroitness of our leadership. We must be ready to correct any wrong impression by choosing right whenever the opportunity arises.

On Monday, the 12th of May, 2014, the same day that Shekau released the video of the abducted girls, Mr Donald Sterling, the embattled owner of L.A Clippers, finally apologized for the racist remarks he made while chastising his bi-racial girlfriend for taking some photo shots with black people on her Instagram page (google Donald Sterling for details).

I want to believe there was an upheaval of bittersweet in you just as I had the same feeling. The video of those girls covered in hijab and reciting a part of the Quran gave us hope that ‘a good number’ of the girls are still ‘around’, though under a high degree of terror (as expected because they are in a terrorist camp). Even though the ‘confused’ Thomases amongst us still shot from another angle, majority of us still hold on to our resolve that #BringBackOurGirlsAlive is not in vain.

Immediately after the video, our killer Minister of the Interior, Abba Moro, granted BBC an interview, while Ms Marilyn Ogar of the DSS and so many other commentators on social media, confirmed that axiom as specifically described in the Cambridge Advanced Learner’s Dictionary Third Edition. Very good view it is, no doubt.

I am a student of International Relations and Public Affairs. For want of space I may not be able to go into history but I know google will provide materials on different negotiations that have been done with terrorists by different governments in the past and even till recently.

Please do not get me wrong. I am not and will never be a defeatist but if my child had been one of those abducted girls, I would have given my life in exchange for hers. Let me use this opportunity to sound my point: we all must ensure that nothing indignant happens to those girls now that we know they are alive and haven’t been sold as threatened by our common enemy #BokoHaram. We must do everything within and beyond our reach to get those girls back alive. Their cries will not let me and you have eternal peace if we fold our arms and watch them condemned to a life of perdition. Just as I said, wouldn’t you have given your life in her stead if your daughter was in such a situation?

I must reiterate here that I am a Christian just as I had made that point in #PAUSIBILITY: CHURCHISM. I have not been in the church for sometime till last week and I had contemplated I may have to do a change of space if my pastor had not talked about #BringBackOurGirls in his sermon. My joy, he asked us all to go down on our knees and we prayed to God to help us #BringBackOurGirls.

Let me share this one:

Lord, just as you dealt with the enemies of Jehoshaphat, your name is El-Gibor, please send confusion into the camp of #BokoHaram. Father let them annihilate one another with their own weapons and let victory be to your chosen. Help us to #BringBackOurGirls.

The statement that got me exasperated was credited to Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN); let me put it right, the statement was by Ayo Oritsejafor (President of CAN), speaking through the National Director of Research of CAN, Elder Sunday Oibe, at a press conference in Kaduna. I have a lot of things on my mind but just as the bible says, “touch not my anointed”.

But Ayo needs to know that his anointing is not to blow any ember of division amongst the people. He should know that in a time like this, as an “elder statesman”, (is he?) One must keep shut if there is nothing reasonable to say, or does he think what he is saying is reasonable? He should know that as a leader of his “ideal” Christian body, he should put his body under control and not be in a hurry to say nothing but prayers to the Almighty. He should know that those that use the name of God for self gratification usually end up in shame because their jets cannot fly them into the heavens. He should know that the heavy crucifix on his neck is not just for bodily adornment but an insignia of total commitment to bearing the cross even in the face of death. He should have the intellectual capacity to understand that #BokoHaram is a war against humanity at large and not in any way targeted at only Christians and those bombs that have been killing people everywhere are not programmed to deselect non-Christians. He should start thanking God that some prayers that were said in Israel while on GEJ’s entourage are being answered for surely God will rise and scatter the enemies of this land and just like an empty can they will be crushed.  All of them.

I cannot wait for some reigns to come to an end; racism, Boko Haram and this government. They are all killers of dreams.
